A Powerful Day for Animals and for the
Dream of Their Liberation
The Vegan Spirituality Retreat in Malibu
(www.veganspirituality.com) is
coming up soon on June 22. Will Tuttle was the featured speaker
last year inspiring everyone with his wisdom and his vision of a vegan
world. This year I will be speaking about how vegan spirituality
helps both animals and activists. Lisa Levinson, founder of VS,
is creating a day that is sure to fill everyone with hope, inspiration,
and a renewed sense of purpose.
Animals will be welcomed, and there will be a time set aside for
blessing them and all animals. As we talk, share ideas, sing,
drum, and dance, and dine on cruelty-free food, we will be enlivening
and enlarging this grand vision that we all share. It is a vision
of a joyous, vegan world in which all human beings regard all animals
and nature with respect and lovingkindness.

As I prepare my talk for this event, I can feel the stretching of our
imaginations that it takes to hold that vision in the midst of hearing
about the increasing number of animals being killed for foreign
markets. A 2009 Worldwatch article estimates that worldwide 59%
of land is used to grow feed for animals and to grow animals themselves
for human use. It is so important to hold the vision together, to
encourage each other, and to know that we can make this dream for all
life come true. It is already true in the unmanifested realm, but
we must believe that and feel the joy of it in order to bring it into
the visible realm.

vision, and feeling the love and the truth of it will generate a
tremendous power to nudge it closer to its full expression on earth.

intentions, our prayers and our focused thoughts for the new day that
is dawning when human beings will all be gentle, loving, and respectful
friends to all of you; when the wars against you are no more; and we
all live in peace and joy together.
