The pigs in St. Joseph, Missouri desperately need our prayers
At the Triumph Foods Pork Processing Plant in St. Joseph, Missouri, (not far from where I live) the website boasts: “The plant is able to process and pack over 1,000 pigs per hour. All of the chilled meat products produced at the plant are marketed by Seaboard…” They employ 2,800 people and brutally kill 5.5 million hogs every year. That is over 15,000 intelligent, sensitive, suffering animals each and every day. There is a photo on the website of pigs hanging upside down being eviscerated by robots. I shudder to think about those on that line who are still alive.
A Prayer for pigs and other farmed animals from Christa Blank, an Ordained Minister of the German Protestant Church and President of Animal Angels International
Christa sent a week of daily prayers to me which I posted on the Prayer Circle for Animals facebook (see the link to the facebook below). Here I am reprinting the one for farmed animals.
Arise, Lord, help the animals and set them free for your name’s sake.
We ask this for all the animals on farms.
Be you with them in their wretchedness.
Deliver them from evil.
You decreed that your creatures should be free.
Lead them out of slavery.
You are their Creator and Lord.
Stand by them in the horror of the slaughterhouse.
Endow all people with the eyes of love,
So that, seeing that what they do to animals they do to you, they will desist.
Let us hold fast to her vision: “Endow all people with the eyes of love.”
As Isaac Bashevis Singer said, “Even in the worm that crawls in the earth there glows a divine spark. When you slaughter a creature, you slaughter God.”
As Christa so eloquently prays, people need to see that what they do to the animals, they do to God, and then they will stop. Let it be so. And so it is.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy, and Will, Madeleine, and the Circle of Compassion team.
