Stop Animal Exploitation Now (SAEN) released its “20 Most Painful Labs list” in their Summer, 2013 issue. SAEN’s research shows that every single hour in U.S. labs, 11 animals endure torturous experiments without any pain relief! They list U. of California at Davis, NIH, the U.S. Army and other institutions that perform cruel, barbaric, and useless experiments on animals with no pain relief whatsoever.
As horrifying as this is to comprehend, we must stay strong in our commitment to these suffering individuals who have lost everything dear to them. Bob Barker recently gave SAEN a generous grant, and other groups such as Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, along with sanctuaries for retired lab animals, are making a huge difference for many, and have liberated some, but for these precious beings, the suffering continues. .
This week, let us hold in our hearts, prayers, and thoughts, all animals in laboratories. While our hearts ache for them, we need to send them unconditional love. Divine love can flow through us to them and bring them some measure of comfort. Let us also send them the knowing that people all over the world are working hard to free them and bring them to sanctuaries. Let us send them the knowing that there are human beings who care and will never stop working until they are all free and are never again exploited and kept in bondage. I believe that more and more animals are attempting to communicate with human beings and establish a bridge between species. So let us whisper to them “Look into the eyes of your captors. Let them see who you truly are—a kindred and sacred soul.”
