And Our Prayer for the Week from Judy Carman
SEABOARD FOODS IN GUYMON, OK, KILLS 20,000 PIGS EVERY DAY.
This is an international, publicly traded, Fortune 500 company that has a
worldwide reputation for abusing workers, animals, indigenous people, and the
earth. Yet they prosper. It has been said by pig farmers that the unbearable
smell of confined pigs living in urine and feces is “the smell of
money.” And so millions of hearts break, and millions suffer and die. I
drove by the Oklahoma Seaboard slaughterhouse several days ago on my way home
from a trip. I realized I was driving by what can only be described as hell on
earth, created by human beings. I prayed for the pigs there and imagined
sending love to each one so they would know that there are human beings in the
world who do respect and love them. It seemed such a little thing to do in the
face of such unimaginable horror. But then I thought of all of you and our
faithful prayer circle. And I remembered how powerful our united prayers are.
We are all taking action in many different ways, and we are all continually
holding the animals of earth in prayer. What we are doing will someday bring an
end to this shameful chapter of the human story. And so I wanted to ask you
this week to pray for the pigs there at Seaboard.
THIS WEEK’S PRAYER FOR THE PIGS AT SEABOARD SLAUGHTERHOUSE IN
OKLAHOMA. As we join our hearts and minds in prayer and focused
intention, let us imagine the power of our love and that of the loving universe
completely embracing this slaughterhouse. May each pig, who is pushed and
dragged through those horrible doors to their deaths, be somehow aware of that
powerful love. May they feel the glowing comfort of that love. May they know
that there are human beings who understand that each one of them has a family
and friends, that they are each individuals with desires of their own, and a
love of life that has been torn from them. May it give them some peace knowing
that there are millions of people who are working tirelessly to stop these
atrocities against them. May they somehow be aware that their deaths are not
going unnoticed, that we honor them, and we honor the memory of each one of
them. May their spirits find infinite peace and freedom and love as they
journey onward.
As always, I send my thanks to each of you, dear Prayer Circle members, for
May Divine Wisdom, the animals’ grace, and our true hearts guide us
toward ahimsa, peace, liberation, and lovingkindness for all. As always, I send
my thanks to each of you, dear Prayer Circle members, for joining this circle
of compassion and shining the Light of Truth for all to see, so that one day
soon, all beings will live in peace together.
May compassion
and love reign over all the earth for all beings everywhere.
Thank you all
for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from Will,
