And Our Prayer for the Week from Judy Carman
AFTER YEARS OF PROTEST AND EDUCATION RINGLING BROTHERS CIRCUS QUITS.
Ringling plans to do 30 more shows in the U.S. and end their performances
permanently in May of 2017 after 146 years of torturing and confining animals
and calling it entertainment. Ticket sales have been dropping as activists have
helped the public understand the cruelty that lurks behind the illusion of fun
at animal circuses. People have listened, and they have responded with
compassion. Ringling ended their elephant acts some time ago, and this led to
an even bigger drop in sales. The fate of the animals abused by Ringling hangs
in the balance at this point.
PRAYER FOR THE WEEK FOR THE CIRCUS ANIMALS AND FOR ALL OTHER ANIMAL CIRCUSES
TO CLOSE. We give thanks for all the activists who so faithfully stood with
signs, costumes, videos, street theater, and literature explaining to the,
often belligerent, circus crowd the many atrocities connected with animal
circuses. We give thanks for the news coverage of protests, for the people who
listened, and for the brave undercover activists who showed the world the truth
of the misery the animals were enduring. We know we are only part way there,
but this is a magnificently huge sign that the human spirit is beginning to
remember that animals are not ours to own and use. We need to celebrate and
dance and sing for joy. And, as always, we recognize there is more to do. With
this joy in our hearts and with our vision of peace for all beings becoming
more manifested, we know we will carry on. We ask for strength and wisdom to
get every animal circus to shut down. We send clarity of purpose and
encouragement to those who are in positions to actively rescue the retired
circus animals and find them safe homes. May this joyful news carry us forward
with new momentum and renewed energy. May the animals who have suffered so long
be bathed in peace and love. May they know deep in their souls that this
horrific chapter of human domination is coming to an end. The long years and
the families and friends who have been taken from them can never be replaced.
Apologies from the human race could never be enough. But may their hearts and
souls be filled with hope as they feel our solidarity with them and know that
it won’t be long until all animal circuses are gone forever from this
world
As always, I send my thanks to each of you, dear Prayer Circle members, for
May Divine Wisdom, the animals’ grace, and our true hearts guide us
toward ahimsa, peace, liberation, and lovingkindness for all. As always, I send
my thanks to each of you, dear Prayer Circle members, for joining this circle
of compassion and shining the Light of Truth for all to see, so that one day
soon, all beings will live in peace together.
May compassion
and love reign over all the earth for all beings everywhere.
Thank you all
for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from Will,
Madeleine, Tara and the Circle of Compassion team
