And Our Prayer for the Week from Judy Carman
HE WAS GREEN WITH BLACK POLKA DOTS, no more than 3/8th of an inch long, and
his back leg was stuck in a piece of an abandoned spider web. How did I even
see him? Did he call to me somehow? But there he was unable to move, his left
leg pulled straight by the weight of the web while the right one bent correctly
at a right angle. I needed a magnifying glass to remove the offending web.
After several minutes I was getting nowhere and decided to put water on the web
and use the tweezers. That worked. He was free. I tried to see if he was
looking at me, but he was just too tiny. I laid him gently on a leaf and
watched him walk away with all his legs working properly. I felt completely
connected to that little guy—heart and soul. We did something together.
We communicated in a language beyond words—a language that you and I
share with all animals and plants, but rarely “hear”--above the
noise of our busy lives. It is a language of universal love and divine
mystery.
PRAYERS TO HEAR THE TINY ONES. Isaac Bashevis Singer said, “Even in
the worm that crawls in the earth, there glows a divine spark. When you
slaughter a creature, you slaughter God.” Let us add that when we help,
heal, listen to, and love a creature, we do the same for the Divine, because
the Divine is living in them and reaching out to us--and very likely teaching
us. This week, as we grow in our realization that all beings communicate in a
sacred way, may each one of us find ways to enter that space of love where this
language can be heard and understood. We give thanks for the gift we have been
given of empathy for all beings and for the joy and the feeling of belonging
that brings to us. As we learn to listen with our open hearts, may we each be
guided to feel strong and confident in doing the things we’ve been given
to do to bring peace and freedom to all beings. May we hear, not just their
cries of anguish, but also their songs and the wisdom they are trying to share
with us. May we know them, not just as animals who need our help, but as beings
who have so much to teach us about how to live, how to be, and how to love. And
may every human being on the planet join us on this sacred journey toward Vegan
Peace for All Beings. May Divine Wisdom, the animals’ grace, and our true
hearts guide us toward ahimsa, peace, liberation, and lovingkindness for
all.
May Divine Wisdom, the animals’ grace, and our true hearts guide us
toward ahimsa, peace, liberation, and lovingkindness for all.
As always, I send my thanks to each of you, dear Prayer Circle members, for
joining this circle of compassion and shining the Light of Truth for all to
see, so that one day soon, all beings will live in peace together. Our prayers
for all animals continue to circle the earth, to uplift humanity’s
consciousness, and to bless the animals themselves. Thank you for joining
people around the world who are praying these weekly prayers as well as the
Noon Prayer.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from Will,
Madeleine, Tara and the Circle of Compassion team
