Greetings of love and gratitude from
Judy Carman
My mother always took flowers on Memorial Day to the
cemeteries where loved ones were buried. Even though Memorial Day is meant to
honor fallen soldiers, for my mother and millions of others it is also a time
to remember and honor all loved ones who have passed on, even if they were not
in the military service. On this day, cemeteries will overflow with floral
wreaths and decorations—a ritual that brings comfort to those left
behind.
But the graveyards for the trillions of animals killed in the 10,000 year
agricultural war against them are grocery stores, meat markets, dinner plates,
trash dumps, and, to put it bluntly, sewers. How different the passing of these
precious animals is to that of human beings. Where can we place our flowers for
them?
This week let us remember and honor the animals of earth who have
died by human hands. Of course, we will take time to remember our own
human loved ones who have died, but it really is up to us to bring honor and
respect to the animals so that they will not have died alone and uncounted.
This week let us take some time to visit a grocery store and go to the meat
counter where some of our loved ones lie in pieces. And let us gently and
lovingly greet their spirits and say “I SEE you; I HEAR you, I LOVE you,
and I bless you on your journey home.” Please do not feel like you have
to do this if it would be too painful for you. You can certainly do it in your
imagination during meditation or you can find another way that works for you.
The most important thing to remember is that the barriers between us and the
animals have come down. We have always been connected, but now, because of our
veganism, we can feel that connection. And I believe they can receive the
blessings, the light, love, recognition, respect, and honor that we send them.
As always, with tears of gratitude, I send my thanks to each of you,
dear Prayer Circle members, for joining this circle of compassion and
shining the Light of Truth for all to see, so that one day soon, all
beings will live in peace together.
May compassion and love reign over all the earth for all beings
everywhere.
Thank you all for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace
for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from
