Greetings of love and gratitude from
Judy Carman
One word—CECIL. His death
at the hands of a remorseless hunter has gone viral and millions of
people are mourning him and recognizing that this was a murder. Cecil’s
image was projected onto the side of the Empire State Building. I
was at FARM’s Animal Rights 2015 conference last week when powerful
speaker and animal rights activist, Jane Velez-Mitchell of “Jane
Unchained,” inspired everyone to see this worldwide outrage as a sign
of the tipping point we have all been working so hard for. My father
was a trophy hunter. He killed over one hundred African animals,
including families. He shot wolves and polar bears from planes.
There were no memorials for those animals except in my heart. There was
no social media. “Great white hunters” were considered brave and
adventuresome, not murderers. So I see progress!! I see
awakening, and I see hope for all Cecils everywhere. Photos of
animals with the words “I am Cecil” on them are being shared around the
world.
Jane asks us: “While we have people’s attention, how can we tap into
these powerful emotions to awaken them to the plight of other animals
who are equally deserving of a life free from harm? How can we help
people connect the dots between Cecil, who endured 40 hours of agony,
and the billions of farm animals whose entire lives are consumed by
suffering?
“Please use this rare moment in time when the world is paying attention
to ensure that Cecil did not die in vain and that his murder is a
wake-up call to the millions of people who have not made the connection
between the animals we love – like lions, whales and dogs – and the
animals we consume. They are all the same.”
In addition to spreading the connection message, there are petitions
demanding charges be brought against the dentist, Walter James Palmer,
who paid $55,000.00 for a Zimbabwe permit, lured Cecil out of his
protective park, shot him with an arrow and allowed him to suffer 40
hours before shooting him. There are also petitions asking the
Zimbabwe government to stop issuing lion hunting permits. There are a
lot of actions we can take as we ride this wave of awareness.
This Week’s Prayer—May All People
See—They Are All Cecil. Dear Cecil, Great Lion of Africa,
we want you to know that, through your death, you have become a
worldwide symbol of outrage over animal cruelty. People who never
even knew you mourn your death and are demanding justice for your
murder. But more than that, we have never seen such an
international outpouring of empathy from human beings for
animals. It has been too long in coming, but we believe it is a
sign that there is a shift taking place in human consciousness—a shift
toward true compassion for all beings which will lead to the end of
human domination, killing and exploitation of animals. Your death, dear
Cecil, will not be in vain. Together with your spirit and the
spirits of so many billions of murdered animals, we hold the vision
more tenaciously than ever before, of a vegan, nonviolent world of
freedom for all. As we close our eyes and imagine this beautiful
scene, we feel the intense joy of it. We know that what we focus
on expands, and our laser focus is right now drawing into the world
true peace and true liberty. Cecil, WE SEE YOU and WE LOVE
YOU. Dear animals of earth, we are telling everyone—You Are All
Cecils. WE SEE YOU and WE LOVE YOU. Do not lose hope.
We will not give up until you are all
free.
As always, with tears of gratitude, I send my thanks to each of you,
dear Prayer Circle members, for joining this circle of compassion and
shining the Light of Truth for all to see, so that one day soon, all
beings will live in peace together.
May compassion and love reign over all the earth for all beings
everywhere.
Thank you all for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace
for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from
