Our prayers for all animals continue to circle the earth, to
uplift humanity's consciousness, and to bless the animals themselves.
Thank you for joining people around the world who are praying this
prayer in many different languages but all with the same love:
"COMPASSION ENCIRCLES THE EARTH FOR ALL BEINGS EVERYWHERE"
I've been wanting to share this poem with you for a long time. Parendi Birdie, founder of Kansas University's Compassion for All Animals group read this poem (this is a shortened version) to a large and diverse (not all vegan) audience, and I do not doubt some hearts were opened that night. Please feel free to share this with friends and loved ones.
Yesterday was Mother's Day, and--while most Americans (including most of us) were buying flowers and gifts for their mothers--as vegans, we cannot help but think of the billions of animal mothers whose children are taken from them. These moms are never allowed to experience the joys of motherhood. Mother cows mourn for their stolen babies and are forced to give up their babies' milk to human beings. Mother chickens see their eggs stolen from them and are never allowed the tender, sweet days of sitting on their eggs and clucking to their yet unhatched babies.
So let's take a few moments today to honor all mothers-the human ones, the ones in cages, the ones who live wild and free, but above all-the ones who suffer the endless pregnancies and the grueling, relentless loss of their babies and families at the hands of people. May humanity grow in consciousness without delay and come to understand the sacred joy and beauty of motherhood. May we all learn and know in the depths of our hearts that human beings do not have the right to rob mothers of their children and families.
May it ring true for us all that Mother's Day and motherhood is for all beings everywhere and every day.
May all beings, including all people, be happy and free.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy
