Online Holiday Vigil for the Animals
Diana Stout and Shannon Murphy hosted a month long Vigil for the Turkeys during November. Now they are continuing an online vigil into December for all animals on their Christmas Vigil for the Animals facebook page.
They write, “Our vigil has been extended to encompass the month of December, and the Christmas holiday. We are here to remember and honor all the innocent, sentient beings who will suffer and die because of the mindless desire of so many to consume their poor, dead bodies. We are also here to experience fellowship and give and receive comfort during this time. The focus is no longer specifically turkeys, but will include pigs, lambs, ducks, chickens, cows, geese, fish, and all of the victims of this season. Thank you.” We are so thankful to you, Diana and Shannon, for organizing this important vigil
Relentless Violence Vs. “Peace on Earth, Goodwill…”
Let us all join in spirit with Shannon and Diana, as we approach the Christmas and Holiday season. This month, perhaps more than any other, we experience the extreme cultural disconnection between the carols and songs of peace and goodwill juxtaposed with the unrelenting violence and killing that we know is occurring in preparation for “traditional” holiday meals. Truly, we do need each other, as Diana and Shannon mention, as we navigate this time of horror for animals. And the animals need us, our prayers, our vision of hope for them, and our faith joined with theirs that one day their children will be free.
Activists go Shopping for True Peace on Earth
Also, as we shop for gifts for our loved ones, we can be activist ahimsa shoppers. We can give donations honoring a family member or friend to a favorite animal liberation group or sanctuary; prayer flags for animals (available at peacetoallbeings.com); books about animals; Daniel Redwood’s cd—“Songs for People, Animals, and the Earth;” Paul Seymour’s “Maybe JC was a Vegetarian” and his other music (on Youtube and ITunes); and many other gifts that help nudge all people closer to celebrating “Peace on Earth” for all beings.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and visionary thoughts. Thanks to all of you, compassion is encircling the earth for all beings. Thank you for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy, and Will, Madeleine, and the Circle of Compassion team.
If you haven’t already done so, please join us at the Prayer Circle for Animals facebook page.
